Italian tiremaker Pirelli has recalled more than 15,000 P ZERO Race TLR tires due to the possibility that the tubeless tire bead will unseat from the rim. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Pirelli received one report of a tire unseating, leading to a minor injury and the recall.
Pirelli sold 14,500 of the tires in the U.S. and 550 in Canada. Both groups of tires are included in the recall. Pirelli announced the news on its website on September 7.
Users should immediately stop using P ZERO Race TLR tires (size 28-622) and check if Pirelli covers the tires under the recall. Pirelli produced the affected tires “between the tenth week of 2023 and the 24th week of 2023,” per the company. Competitive Cyclist, Trek, and Angry Catfish stores sold the tires “nationwide from March 2023 through July 2023.”
Think you might have one of these tires? Check the table for specific model numbers, originally provided by Pirelli on its website.
If you are unsure of where to find that info on your tires, check out this second table Pirelli helpfully provided.
If your tire has a model name and number and Tire ID that matches one from the table and a production date code of 1023 through 2423, you should contact Pirelli via phone 1-800-622-2390 or email at [email protected]. You’ll receive either a free replacement or a full refund.
