A driver is in hospital after a serious crash that landed their Toyota Corolla inside the second storey of a home in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.
Motor1 reports the 2006 Toyota Corolla landed in a bedroom after coming in contact with gutter along the side of the road in front of the two-storey house’s driveway.
According to ABC 27 WHTM, the homeowners were evacuated and evaluated at the scene but didn’t need to attend hospital.
Motor1 reports the 20 year old driver has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. Should the driver be convicted, he could face between five and 20 years in jail.
ABC 27 WHTM reported the Pennsylvania State Police “determined through an investigation that the crash was an intentional act and charges are pending at this time.”
It’s unclear at this stage if the driver was known to the homeowners.
The Junction Fire Company responded to the incident “within minutes” to find the vehicle wedged on the corner of the house.
It stated in a Facebook post the “rescue crew stabilised the house and helped the homeowners put a tarp on the hole due to upcoming storms”.
Photos of the incident show the vehicle prior to being removed, stuck between the first and second storey.
It’s hard to know what sustained the most damage – the car or the house.
Photos of the house show a gapped hole in the upstairs bedroom, including extensive damage to its shiplap exterior walls.
The dormer window was severely damaged which caused rescue teams to use metal beams to stop the roof from collapsing.
