Ever wondered what it would be like to play the 1970s arcade classic Pong with a pair of Porsche Taycans?
No? Well, Porsche has shown us anyway, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the iconic game.
A slick 60-second video released by the carmaker features two Porsche Taycan electric vehicles engaging in the classic arcade game on a life-size playing field with a 3D drone used as the “ball”.
The company has also released a new version of Pong to celebrate the game’s anniversary and just in time for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
Pong, for those who need the trip down memory lane, is a two-dimensional tennis match where two opponents hit a ball back and forth.
The aim of the game is to get the ball to bounce past the other player on the court to score a point.
Although the general public can’t join in a real-life game of Pong with Taycans, Porsche has designed the next best thing.
Players can jump on to the website via their mobile device or desktop computer and play the game in a customisable Taycan.
Players can select from four colour options and three difficulty levels.
Those attending the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix this weekend can also visit the Taycan Arcade at Oval 17.
Atari’s Pong is widely regarded as the first commercially successful video game. Introduced in 1972, it helped establish the video game industry.
