Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have a common yet well-sought-after flare pistol. This is the Japanese Type 10 Flare Pistol. The Type 10 Flare Pistol was brought to the world in 1921 and it was intentionally very similar to the Type 26 double-action revolver that the Japanese had in service already for years. These flare guns were a common bring-back item even though it was not a Nambu. They were cheaper and more common which made them a common thing on a World War Two battlefield.
“Adopted in 1921 as the standard Japanese Army signal pistol until the end of WWII. The left side of the frame has the Kokura Arsenal cannonball proof next to the model markings and serial number. Grooved grips with lanyard ring on butt. Comes with a brown leather holster. The inside of the flap is stamped with Kokura Arsenal markings.”
