POTD: The Little one of The 1911 and CZ75

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have the first handgun chambered in 10mm. This is the famous Bren Ten. These pistols were treated as pistols that would outdo the M1911 and be a total overhaul and improvement on the design. They were double-action/single-action guns. This means that unless the hammer is cocked the trigger will have a heavy double-action trigger pull. It is heavy because in double action the trigger is doing the job of actively cocking the hammer and then dropping it at its apex. The overall design of the gun draws a lot from the CZ75 hence the homage in its name “Bren” and the ten refers to it being chambered for 10x25mm or 10mm Auto. One of the most prominent dislikable features of the Bren Ten is the cross bolt safety which is a strange addition. The Dornaus and Dixon company that produced these ran into many quality control issues and more notably magazine issues right off the bat. This sealed their fate and the Bren Ten would become not all that more than a legend.

“Made from 1983 to 1986. Marked “BREN TEN” on either side of the slide, caliber markings on the slide and barrel, an eagle design on the left side of the frame and address on the right. Equipped with adjustable three-dot sights, ring hammer, crossbolt and thumb safeties, crenellated muzzle protector, lanyard ring, smooth grips with “X” medallions and heavy ribbed trigger guard and grip straps.”
