Predator Sidestep Install and Review for

Toyota Tacoma 3rd Generation Step by Step Instructions:

So, you want to step it up instead of hopping in and sliding out. This 3rd generation Toyota Tacoma sidestep will do the job. I wanted to hook up my 2023 Toyota Tacoma SX with the Predator. Well check it out this sidestep adds a cool ruff rugged look to your rig. Easy to mount and very durable. It has a black powder coating. Powder coating usually last for 20 years intact with no chips and no rusting. Its lightweight weight aluminum adds to the durability. The step has perforated punched out holes that makes a good grip and hard to slip. Besides the looks it’s easier to access cab. This OEM Toyota part so it will last. Pricing depends on where you get it from. Toyota has it for about $500-$605. There have been other sites that I’ve seen that have it for $349. If you want to roll the dice and take a chance Ebay has them as low as $179. If you want to get it installed at a dealership it runs about $1,200 altogether parts and labor. Want to get it done at shop cost of labor runs about $300 to $400 not including the predator sidestep. Want to avoid spending that cash so you have more money for your rig? All that is needed is a couple of tools and the will to modify. If you want to spend some time getting intimate with your Taco then this is for you. Get down up in there and get it done.

Tools Needed for Install

  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Rachet and 12mm socket
  • Floor Jack or a Friend

Super easy to install. It attaches with 6 bolts to each side. You will need a 12mm socket and rachet as well as a flathead screwdriver to remove the plugs where bolts go attach to under carriage of truck. You are going to need a friend or floor jack to help lift and balance the sidestep to thread up the bolts. Once you have those suckers on then just tighten them up. Goes without saying repeat on the other side. Once installed take a step back and admire those 15 minutes it took to make your ride look badass.

 FINAL THOUGHTS AND REVIEW

This was my 1st upgrade on my Taco. Trust me your lady will thank you (mine did). Makes it super easy to climb in cab. Definity complimented my Tacoma and super easy to install for you weekend wrenchers out there. The cool use that I found for it on rainy/snowy days you can wipe off your boots, so you don’t track that in you cab. For the time it takes to install and minimal tools I think it is an awesome upgrade. My Tacoma is a daily commuter used for my trips to Home Depot on the weekends.
