Reed & Mackay has completed a “comprehensive” integration of carbon data into its platform, enabling travelers to see sustainable choices throughout the booking process and for companies to set customized policies within the approval flow, the travel management company announced.
With data provided by partner Squake, organizations can set policies based on projected carbon emissions across air, hotel, and rail and ground travel, such as requiring travelers to take flights with the lowest emissions on a route. Travelers will be notified which options are within policy both in the R&M/Book tool or when booking with a Reed & Mackay consultant.
“It really is the final piece of the jigsaw of the connectivity, all the way from the booking to the policy and approval, decision-making and reporting at the back end,” Reed & Mackay global sustainability director Chris Truss said. “We’ve now successfully joined all that together.”
Those technical capabilities will pair with the TMC’s in-house consulting services to help clients develop the strategies that work best for their programs, he said.
“We’ve done a good job of getting that foundational layer built,” Truss said. “Now, we have to help clients actually use it.”
