Chery sells over 5,000 units in Türkiye in July with just 3 models.

It’s another record for the Turkish new light vehicle market in July with sales up a whopping 115.4% to 112,459 units, smashing its previous July best of 87,401 sales hit in July 2020. Every single month of the year so far has been a monthly record which brings the year-to-date tally up 63.1% to an all-time high 668,828 units after 7 months. We detailed in the June 2023 report the reasons behind this market surge and they range from minimum wages rising 55% and low interest rates at 8.5% vs. 40% of inflation. In this context Fiat (+35.1%) reclaims the brands top spot but vastly trails the market, keeping in mind July 2022 was a particularly good month for the Italian manufacturer as it broke its market share record to 26.2%. Volkswagen (+119.8%) matches the market and climbs 6 spots on June to #2, distancing Ford (+157.3%) and Peugeot (+566.8%). Renault (+68.6%) falls from #1 in June to #5 with 6.7% share vs. 9.9% so far this year. Opel (+257.8%) and Citroen (+218.5%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 while Chery is up two ranks on last month to #8, now outselling Hyundai (#9) ad Toyota (#11).
