Residence on the Vary #065: The Outdoor, Looking, Ranching – 2023 Recap

Welcome to our 2023 recap of all of the “Home on the Range” articles and topics that we have covered in the past year. In the winter months, we discussed use of cellular trail cameras to document whitetail deer that survived hunting season, potentially aid in finding antler sheds, and watching for other game as well. In the spring, we talked about turkey hunting, different methods for harvesting a turkey, and how that can be a great supplement to anyone’s freezer for food. Throughout the summer, we looked at more alternative methods for food like egg-laying chickens, Mangalitsa pigs for bacon, and even beekeeping for honey. In the fall, we revisited whitetail deer hunting, reviewed a lot of different knives you could use for field-dressing, and other essential equipment for hunting in the outdoors. Finally, as we are back into winter months again we are speaking to the merits of keeping trail cameras out all winter long.

I thoroughly enjoy writing “Home on the Range” for all of our readers on AllOutdoor because it is not simply stories, product reviews, and experiences; I am sharing a way of life. A way of life that I live – and I know so many others like me live as well. Being self-sufficient, procuring your own food, living off the land, and being capable; knowing how to fix things, grow things, and create things. These are hands-on skills I want to share and pass on to as many people as possible. So, with that, I hope you enjoy the 2023 recp for “Home on the Range” as much as I have writing it – cheers! As always, let us know all of your thoughts on all of our year-long coverage of “Home on the Range” in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

Welcome to our reoccurring series of “Home on the Range.” Here, we would like to share all of our experiences for those who may be homesteading, living off the land, hunting, farming, ranching, and truly investing in nature and the great outdoors. The ability to provide for yourself and your family can be tremendously rewarding and simultaneously difficult at times. So, in “Home on the Range” we want to share our different exploits so you can learn and hopefully we can receive your feedback along the way as well.
