Vancouver Island’s mountain biking singletrack trails are world-renowned — and for good reason. They wind through Pacific Northwest rainforest terrain. They leap over boulders, whip around wooden walkways, and careen through jungle foliage. The jumps are huge and well-built. And other terrain features make this a playground for professional and recreational mountain bikers alike.

Few people know these trails as well as Max McCulloch. The Vancouver local grew up riding the trails around the area and understands them like the back of his hand. Professional rider Nils Heiniger linked up with McCulloch to explore some of the most rad singletrack Vancouver has to offer — atop his trusty steed, the Rossignol Heretic.

It may still feel like midwinter across much of the U.S., but mountain bike season is just around the corner. So get hyped for the action with this preseason edit. Island Flow from Rossignol features McCulloch and Heiniger. The video showcases some of their insanely talented riding and some of the wildly beautiful and fun-looking trails on Vancouver Island.

To see more videos from Rossignol, check out the brand’s YouTube page. McCulloch and Heiniger regularly update their Instagram pages. So if you want more from them, give the athletes a follow. And if you’re interested in biking on Vancouver Island, there are lots of guides out there to the area’s extensive mountain bike trails.
