A snowboard built from trash doesn’t have to look like it.
That’s the lesson from a short film released by Salomon that takes a peek inside its R&D division. Designers and product developers at the ski and snowboard company have begun experimenting with recycled materials. Instead of tossing out synthetic materials headed for the trash bin, the designers “got their hands dirty” and used a shredder and heat press to create new products.
They’ve made ski boot shells, running shoe parts, and even snowboards and skis. The results are as beautiful as they are functional: the process results in completely unique designs.
If you’re feeling stoked to buy one, however, you’ll have to wait. These sweet, recycled snowboards aren’t available for purchase — yet.
