Art walks, food festivals, golf tournaments, fireworks, and holiday light displays—no matter the time of year. There’s always something exciting happening in the Palmetto State.

Last Friday, this excitement in South Carolina was at the Boeing South Caroline assembly facility on the grounds of the joint-use Charleston Air Force Base and Charleston International Airport.

On Friday, a high-level Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) leadership team did more than discover South Carolina. They joined Boeing to mark the order of up to forty-nine 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

This celebration was not just attended by the Saudia- Boeing Dreamteam but by prominent government officials from Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the United States, has joined the celebration with Captain Ibrahim Koshy, the CEO of SAUDIA. Two years ago, Captain Ibrahim Koshy received the Aviation Executive of the Year award in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the growth and development of Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector.

Dave Calhoun, President and CEO of The Boeing Company, attended with Stan Deal, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Notable for showing unity for the aviation industry and a joined 2030 vision in the Kingdom, the ceremony by SAUDIA, the flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, was also attended by Tony Douglas, CEO of the newly announced national Airline of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Air.

“This is a big deal,” U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham told Boeing employees. “How do you get to Saudi Arabia? On an airplane, unless you live pretty close by. They chose you (Boening).”

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster praised Senator Graham, whom he said played an integral role in the Boeing announcement.
