As huge corporations like Vail Resorts and Alterra Mountain Company grow and acquire new mountains year after year, many of our nation’s smallest resorts are struggling. Every ski season, we hear about another small-town ski mountain shuttering or staying closed through winter. Times are hard for many of the resorts. Luckily, the Indy Pass is here to help.

In a new documentary from Teton Gravity Research, Mountains Not For Profit, filmmakers explore these small mountains, highlighting what they mean to the surrounding communities. It delves into the problems these businesses face — financially and as global warming exacerbates. And it puts a spotlight on the Indy Pass business model that is working in favor of these ski destinations.

The latest feature film to come from TGR is not like its typical shred fest pro skier exposés. The documentary Mountains Not For Profit is about the very heart and soul of the sport and the places that are fighting to keep that fire alive.
