[SHOT 2024] Sons of Liberty Gunworks Debuts 6mm MAX AR Cartridge & L89 Zero Shift Handguard

Sons Of Liberty Gunworks rocks SHOT Show 2024 with the debut of their revolutionary new 6mm MAX AR Cartridge and L89 zero shift handguard.

The 6mm MAX AR Cartridge is an impressive addition to the Sons Of Liberty Gunworks portfolio. Boasting the power to handle up to 55k psi chamber pressures, the virile cartridge yields a compelling 1750lbs of energy. Impressively capable, it maintains being supersonic past 1000 yards on a standard AR platform, a milestone for the industry. Under the hood, it’s the largest capacity .358 case head.

What sets the 6mm MAX apart is its unique design and technical capabilities. For years, cartridge designers have wrestled with the constraints of the 2.26 OAL, whilst seeking ample room for increased case capacity. The company boasts that their new offering is the first .378 case head cartridge with a substantial 35-grain water capacity, capable of supporting heavier and high ballistics coefficient bullets weighing up to 100 grains. This feat is accomplished while maintaining the same 2.30 OAL. Strikingly, when benchmarked against cartridges such as 24 Nosler, 6.8 SPC, 5.56 x45 NATO, 6×45, 6 ARC, 6.5 Grendel, .224 Valkyrie, the 6mm MAX reportedly offers superior or comparable powder capacities within the vein of a .378 mil-spec bolt face.

On the heels of the 6mm MAX’s release, Sons Of Liberty Gunworks unveiled the L89 zero shift handguard. Engineered to index into the receiver and maintain ultra-rigidity, the L89 negates any point of impact shifts from laser aiming devices attached to the handguard. The handguard employs Drive Lock Technology to establish an extraordinarily robust design, making it ideal for accessories such as thermal IR lasers needing a sturdy rail to maintain zero.

The L89’s specifications don’t disappoint: at 10.75″ length, designed with a Titanium Barrel Nut, the handguard includes built-in steel QD sockets, engraved T marks, and comes with a type III hardcoat anodized finish. Its package includes all the necessary installation hardware – titanium barrel nut, barrel wrench, and lock-up components.

Sons Of Liberty Gunworks’ latest launches serve as solid additions to the AR ecosystem, ushering in new benchmarks in shooting capability and equipment design – a testament to the brand’s unyielding commitment to firearm innovation and reliability.
