Sixt Generates File Q2 Income

Germany-based car rental company Sixt reported record second-quarter revenue of €925.1 million (US$1 billion), representing a 24.4 percent increase year over year, the company announced Tuesday.

The b-to-b segment and the long-term rental business “contributed disproportionately” to revenue growth during the quarter, according to the company, adding that rental car prices remain well above 2019 levels.

“We achieved a record result in the second quarter, and we continue to target a significant increase in revenue as well as EBT within our EBT forecast of €430 million to €550 million for the first year,” Sixt co-CEO Alexander Sixt said in a statement. “Our earnings will thus be significantly above our pre-Covid year 2019.”

The company reported a record fleet of 166,300 vehicles for the second quarter, up 24.6 percent versus Q2 2022.

The revenue breakdown for the first half of the year was 29.5 percent for North America, 39.9 percent for Europe excluding Germany and 30.6 percent for Germany, with growth exceeding 20 percent for each segment for the period, according to Sixt.

Its international expansion now includes 42 major airports in the United States, and during the first half of the year, it opened seven new branches in North America.
