The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling model in Slovakia in August.
7,487 new cars hit Slovak roads in August, a solid 11.8% year-on-year improvement. This leads to a year-to-date tally up 15.3% to 60,945. Brand leader Skoda (+33.2%) almost triples the market growth rate to easily stay on top at 19.7% share. Below, Toyota (+15.2%) and Kia (+15.4%) also both beat the market to 11.8% and 10.7% share respectively. The next four carmakers disappoint and are all in negative. Peugeot (-36.2%) is hit the hardest above Volkswagen (-8.4%), Hyundai (-6.4%) and Dacia (-0.6%). Further down, Audi (+180%), Nissan (+176.1%), Ford (+149.2%) and Renault (+123.7%) score surreal upticks.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+48.6%) cements its YTD domination with 5% share above the Kia Ceed (+109.9%) at 4%. In fact the Top 4 is unchanged on July with the Hyundai i30 (+8.8%) and Kia Sportage (-21.8%) in tow. The Dacia Duster (+17%) rallies back up 22 spots on July to #5, distancing four Skodas: the Fabia (-10%), Scala (+51.5%), Kamiq (+10.8%) and Karoq (+73.8%). The Hyundai Tucson (-18.6%) suffers and rounds out the Top 10. The Opel Corsa (+547.4%) and Nissan Qashqai (+175%) shine outside the Top 10.
