Skoda Octavia leads, Nissan Qashqai as much as #5 in weak market – Greatest Promoting Vehicles Weblog

An outstanding month for the Nissan Qashqai in Hungary.

Passenger Car sales disappoint once again in Hungary with a -10.4% year-on-year slide in August to 8,951 units. The year-to-date tally is now off -3.2 % to 73,879. When adding Light Commercial Vehicles, the market is down -1.5% year-to-date to 87,534. Toyota takes the lead of the PC brands ranking with 15% share above Suzuki at 10.6% and last month’s leader Skoda at 10%. Volkswagen drops one spot on July to #4 while Kia stays in 5th place ahead of Nissan up four ranks to #6, BMW and Mercedes. Hyundai is up two spots to #11 and Peugeot up three to #14. In the PC+LCV charts, Toyota leads the way again at 13.5% share, distancing Ford, Volkswagen, Skoda and Suzuki.

Over in the models lane, the Skoda Octavia remains the best-seller overall, distancing the Suzuki S-Cross as it does year-to-date. The Suzuki Vitara rallies back up 14 spots on August to #3 vs. #5 year-to-date while the Toyota Corolla is down two to #4. Another excellent month for the Nissan Qashqai up three ranks to #5 vs. #21 year-to-date, it distances the Toyota Hilux up 10 spots to #6 and the Kia Ceed down three to #7. The VW T-Roc (+5) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+12) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 with the Dacia Duster (-5%) closing it out. Notice also the Ford Puma at #12 vs. #26 year-to-date, the Toyota Corolla Cross at #14 vs. #33 and the MG ZS at #18 vs. #36.
