Skoda Octavia overtakes Tesla Mannequin Y to #1 – Finest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

The Skoda Octavia is now #1 year-to-date in Austria.

New car sales in Austria gain 7.7% year-on-year in June to 24,511 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up  16.7% to 126,690. Volkswagen (-1.3%) underperforms and goes against the market with a negative result, yet posts a solid 14.9% share in line with the 14.7% it holds year-to-date. Skoda (+28.1%) remains in 2nd place while Audi (+65.9%) bypasses BMW (+15.1%) to land on the third step of the podium. Hyundai (-18.9%) rallies back up 9 spots on May to #5 but freefalls year-on-year. Toyota (+25.9%), Renault (+24.2%), Mercedes (+11.8%) and Kia (+10.9%) all beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Tesla (+10.3%) is uncharacteristically soft and falls four ranks on last month to #11.

Looking at the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+218.6%) overtakes the Tesla Model Y (-10.8%) both for June and year-to-date to rank #1 in both rankings. They are followed by three Volkswagens: the Tiguan (+64.1%), Golf (+1%) and Caddy (+58.4%). The Toyota Yaris/Cross (+16.9%) is down two spots on May to #6 ahead of the VW T-Roc (-9.7%). The Skoda Enyaq (+107.7%), VW Polo (+31.1%) and Seat Ateca (+72.9%) make it 8 VW Group models in the June Top 10. The BMW X1 (+130%) and Hyundai Kona (+61.5%) shine below.
