The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling vehicle in Hungary in March.
11,498 new cars hit Hungarian roads in March, a small 3.1% year-on-year uptick. The Q1 tally stands at 29,561, up 3% over the same period a year ago. This month Toyota dominates the ranking charts with 12.5% share ahead of Skoda (9.6%), Ford (8.5%), Volkswagen (7.1%) and 2022 leader Suzuki (7.1%). Over Q1, Toyota (+13.2%) is also #1, distancing Volkswagen (+14.7%), Ford (-12.4%), Skoda (+18.8%) and a freefalling Suzuki (-42.5%). Below, Tesla (+178.4%), Fiat (+58.2%), Ssangyong (+32.3%), Mazda (+27%), Audi (+26.1%) and BMW (+24.3%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia easily takes the lead in March with 4.9% share, above the Ford Tourneo Custom at 3.3% and the Fiat 500 at 3.2%. The Suzuki S-Cross (3.2%) and Vitara (3%) close the Top 5 followed by the Toyota Corolla and last month’s leader the Kia Ceed. The Tesla Model Y is estimated to rank #10 for the month, an all-time high. Over Q1 2023, the Suzuki S-Cross (-47.4%) manages to stay #1 for now despite almost halving its year-ago volume, the Skoda Octavia (+28.5%) follows in great shape while the Kia Ceed (-1.2%) rounds out the podium. The Ford Tourneo Custom (+98.9%) surges ahead at #4 while the Dacia Duster (+8.1%) posts a more realistic lift. The Fat 500 (+78.3%), Toyota Yaris Cross (+61%) and Yaris (+25.2%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
