Skoda provide will get a lift in Australia

Skoda Australia has announced it has recorded over 1000 vehicle arrivals in a month, which represents the largest stock intake since the middle of 2021.

The company says these arrivals help ensure “strong supply of its entire model range”.

“We are confident of a vastly improved year of sales for Skoda based on strong supply and demand,” said a Skoda Australia spokesperson.

Skoda Australia now has over 300 examples of the Kamiq small SUV, more than 200 examples of the Kodiaq large SUV, and 150 examples of the Karoq medium SUV arriving at dealers.

This is supplemented by over 60 examples of the Octavia liftback and 115 examples of the Octavia wagon, more than 100 examples of the Scala small hatchback, around 90 examples of the Superb liftback and wagon, and 40 examples of the Fabia light hatchback.

“For the first time in two years this latest intake of Skoda models can finally meet the strong demand in the market for these products,” said Skoda national sales and planning manager Kieran Merrigan.

Skoda had forecasted last year that supply from its European plants for Australia would have a “full normalisation” by mid-2023.

The company has previously been struggling with supply on a number of its models due to semiconductor and component shortages. It continues to remove certain features on Australian-specification models due to these reasons.

The carmaker’s local arm has forecasted an all-time sales record for 2023 since the brand launched here in its present incarnation in 2007 – a combination of delivering existing orders, and growing its customer base.

While Skoda management wouldn’t confirm its internal sales target on the record in January this year, company sources told us around 12,000 units for calendar year 2023 was the aim. The brand’s best year so far in Australia was 2021, which it recorded 9185 sales.

Beyond this, Skoda Australia has confirmed mid-life updates of the Scala, Octavia and Kamiq will be arriving in 2024.

Production of Australian-specification Enyaq iV and Enyaq iV Coupe electric SUVs will also be commencing next year. It’s understood first examples of these will start arriving in mid-2024.
