Spring is the time of renewal from how the landscape comes back to life with beautiful green and a multitude of colors from flowers that start to bloom. Usually, we also associate it with throughly cleaning our homes to refresh them after winter. In the same way, spring is also the perfect time to pay more attention to wellness and tune up the health of our bodies to keep us feeling and looking better with these tips.

Though it may sound like nothing new, there are advantages to this season that do help motivate us more due to being exposed to sunshine and warmer weather again compared to winter. To begin with, spring gets us to spend more time outdoors doing things like more walking, gardening, biking, jogging, camping, playing tennis, and other activities. In the process, we are moving more instead of sitting too long that can reverse those ill effects, which is important to our health and figures.

Our diets usually change also during this season by including more fresh fruits and vegetables that come to market. Adding more produce to our plates can help us consume fewer calories and benefit our health with more wholesome nutrition over refined foods with those choices.

In fact, the more the weather warms and humidity can also cause us to eat less. The reason is because our bodies have less need to keep as warm as during colder weather. Therefore, many of us just don’t have the same appetite to eat as much during spring and summer as we do when in colder weather to warm the body’s internal furnace.

Spending time outdoors during spring also means soaking up the sun and contributes more vitamin D for wellness that we often lack. Simply being outside can help utilize that vitamin D for better calcium absorption, neuromuscular and immune system functioning, and our mental states. Yet, it also is advisable to do it safely with remembering your sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 or higher and reapplying it regularly is another of these spring wellness tips that can make a big difference in how you look and feel.

Some of us are better than others at drinking enough water to keep hydrated. However, during spring and summer we are more inclined to drink more of it than in winter or fall when we need warm beverages.

As wonderful as it is for being outside, many of us have seasonal allergies to put up with. You might want to avoid the days when your particular allergens have a high pollen count and stay indoors. Another thought is prep first with your allergy medication before spending time outdoors can also help.

These are just a few suggestions that can help you make most of this season.
