Star Alliance unveiled a sleek new 14,000-square-foot lounge that’s slated to open at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on Friday.
The new lounge is for first- and business-class passengers, along with Star Alliance Gold members flying with member airlines and departing from gates 10 to 38 in CDG’s Terminal 1. Eligible United Club and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club flyers can also access the lounge. Located past immigration and security controls, the lounge is for passengers traveling outside the European Union.
This is the second Star Alliance lounge in CDG’s Terminal 1.
The first one, which was renovated in 2019 and is located prior to security on level 10, will now serve passengers departing on flights within the Schengen Area — a set of European countries that don’t require a passport for travel within the region — from gates 50 to 78.
Guests from other lounge access programs departing from all gates can also use the older Star Alliance lounge.
Beyond runway views, the new Star Alliance lounge includes large floor-to-ceiling windows, creating an airy space with ample natural light. The lounge’s design also contains ornate Parisian wall moldings and archways, photos of the Eiffel Tower and artwork from French artists.
The new Star Alliance lounge features a welcome bar offering an assortment of beverages, a wine bar with wines from renowned winemaker Gerard Bertrand, a tea salon, private work cabins and secluded nooks. Other perks include a winter garden, an outdoor courtyard and shower suites.
“Whether it is the design, décor or the F&B experience, we have carefully curated the lounge for a multi-sensorial experience for guests departing from the dazzling city of Paris,” Star Alliance’s Vice President for Customer Experience Christian Draeger said in a statement.
Gensler, an architecture firm also designing the $9.5 billion Terminal One at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), designed the new Star Alliance lounge in CDG. The firm previously designed a Star Alliance lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in 2013.
