Straightforward Kidney Bean Patties Recipe: A Meatless Meal with Variations

For a healthier diet, I try to serve my family a few meatless meals a week. As a result, I create a lot of recipes using beans of all varieties. My kidney bean patties recipe is another delicious meal with added protein from eggs, cheese and oats in combination with a tasty blend of spices and herbs.

Why You’ll Love These Meatless Bean Patties

Besides how scrumptious these meatless cakes are, they also are satisfying without giving you that heavy feeling after eating them in your gut afterwards unlike richer meat meals.

This recipe also is so easy to prepare. You just open a can of kidney beans, rinse and drain before mashing them and incorporating the rest of the ingredients and frying. This is perfect when you have a busy day and would need a fast dinner.

Something else you will appreciate is that you can make this recipe in so many different ways. You can serve it plain with vegetables and a salad. Another suggestion is you can top these patties with a creamy mushroom sauce, a white sauce, a velvety cheese sauce or even a spaghetti sauce to putting on a bun like a meatless burger.

I hope that you try my kidney bean patties recipe because it is terrific. Another version I make is this one for crispy garbanzo bean cakes with herbs and cheese, which is also something you should taste. You also should check out my easy chickpea patties and lentil mashed potato burgers among other fantastic meatless dinner ideas. Please share these with your friends and family and come back to my blog for more delicious and home-tested recipes.

Kidney Bean Patties Recipe in Frying Pan

Kidney Bean Patties Recipe

1 can kidney beans (15.5 oz.), rinsed and drained
3 tablespoons of onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup uncooked oats
3 large eggs
½ cups instant potato flakes
½ teaspoons of salt
1/4 teaspoon of coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon of cumin powder
½ teaspoons of chili powder
½ cups of grated American cheese or Velveeta
1 tablespoon of olive oil + 4 tablespoons for frying

Mash the rinsed and drained kidney beans first before adding the rest of the ingredients with the exception of the four tablespoons of olive oil and mixing them thoroughly.

Heat the reserved olive oil and drop by heaping tablespoons into the frying pan. I make four big patties out of this recipe. You can make smaller or larger, depending on what you need.

Allow them to cook about 10 minutes before attempting to turn them over. If they fall apart, you can push them back together and they adhere.

Cook them for about 15-20 minutes until lightly brown around the edges.

ENJOY!
