Straightforward Tuna Inexperienced Bean Casserole: A Nutritious Weeknight Delight

How to Make Easy Tuna Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients:

1 large can tuna (12 oz.), drained
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup celery, finely diced
1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
12 oz. frozen green beans

Instructions:

  1. Drain the tuna.
  2. In a skillet, heat the oil and saute the onions and celery until tender.
  3. Momentarily, take the skillet off of the heat and stir in the flour and seasonings to coat the vegetables in the pan.
  4. Slowly stir in the milk to the mixture and return to the heat until somewhat thickened.
  5. Add the flaked tuna and green beans and mix through.
  6. Turn into a well-greased skillet or a 1 ½-quart baking dish. Cover with foil or a lid.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350-degrees for about 30 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

Tips:

For a creamier casserole, you can use a combination of milk and half-and-half.
To add more flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice for a bit of tangy flavor.
