How to Make Easy Tuna Green Bean Casserole
Ingredients:
1 large can tuna (12 oz.), drained
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup celery, finely diced
1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
12 oz. frozen green beans
Instructions:
- Drain the tuna.
- In a skillet, heat the oil and saute the onions and celery until tender.
- Momentarily, take the skillet off of the heat and stir in the flour and seasonings to coat the vegetables in the pan.
- Slowly stir in the milk to the mixture and return to the heat until somewhat thickened.
- Add the flaked tuna and green beans and mix through.
- Turn into a well-greased skillet or a 1 ½-quart baking dish. Cover with foil or a lid.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350-degrees for about 30 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
Tips:
For a creamier casserole, you can use a combination of milk and half-and-half.
To add more flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice for a bit of tangy flavor.
For a healthier option, use low-sodium tuna and low-fat milk.
Serve with a side of crusty bread or a green salad.
Enjoy this comforting and nutritious dish!
