Subaru Outback recalled | CarExpert

Subaru Australia has recalled the 2021-22 Outback to fix a problem with the CVT inhibitor switch.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) inhibitor switch may not be sealed sufficiently allowing moisture to enter potentially causing corrosion of the circuit board,” the brand says in its recall notice.

“As a result, the reverse lamps may not illuminate and/or the rear-view camera may not display the rear-view image whilst reversing as intended.

“If the reverse lamps and/or the rear-view camera do not operate as intended, it may impact the safety of other traffic, or any persons located behind the vehicle increasing the risk of an accident-causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

  • A total of 2610 vehicles are included in the recall
  • A VIN list of affected vehicles is attached here
  • The original recall notice is attached here

Subaru Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
