America loves the idea of watching people fight for survival against the elements. After all, Survivor — now in its 46th season! — is the longest-running reality TV show of all time.
So it should come as no surprise that BattlBox, an “adventure subscription box” company aimed at outdoor recreation, is planning a similar competition for this fall in Savannah, Ga. Dubbed the “BattlGames,” the event will take place in September at 17 South Rod & Gun Club. The contest will see 10 contestants putting their survival skills to the test in a series of elimination-style challenges.
Each round will eliminate two participants until the final face-off, where the last contestant standing will win a $25,000 cash prize.
“Our aim with BattlGames is to create a milestone where our community can come together and share their passion,” John Roman, CEO at BattlBox, said in a news release. “With thousands of expected applicants, we look forward to bringing people from all over the country to Savannah, united by their love for the outdoors. This competition isn’t just about individual talent. It’s about celebrating our collective knowledge and the gear that helps us thrive in nature.”

BattlGames Survival Competition: Events
BattlGames participants will showcase their ability and experience in five elimination-style challenges, each aimed at a different survival skill. The entire event is planned for 2 days, September 13-14.
- Event 1 Land Navigation: Contestants will navigate Georgia’s dense woods, using only a map and compass to find various predesignated hidden points.
- Event 2 Set Up Camp: Paired in teams of two, contestants must collaborate to set up a campsite. They’ll need good communication skills to pitch a tent, start a fire, and purify water as quickly as possible. The slowest team will not advance to the next round.
- Event 3 Medical Emergency: Competitors must handle a medical emergency, stabilizing a “hemorrhaging” casualty using provided equipment and transporting them to a safe zone.
- Event 4 Knife Skills: Led by Doug Marcaida, martial artist, TV personality, and head judge of the show Forged in Fire, competitors face tests slicing through rope, fruit, paper, water bottles, and a ballistic zombie dummy.
- Event 5 Return to Safety and Engage a Target: In the final test, the last two contestants face off one-on-one. They’ll swiftly pack camp, load up a kayak, cross water, and then use a firearm to hit a target. First hit wins the BattlGames championship.
