BMW sales almost double year-on-year in Romania.
New car sales in Romania skid -11.6% year-on-year in September to 10,545 units, yet thanks to a strong first half the cumulative volume stands at +16.2% and 110,711. Local behemoth Dacia (-10.3%) resists slightly better than its home market to hold 30.3% share vs. 32.4% so far this year. Skoda (+1.9%) is the only year-on-year gainer in the Top 7, advancing to #2 for the month and #3 year-to-date. Toyota (-16.9%) struggles at #3 ahead of Renault (-10.6%), Volkswagen (-21.5%), Hyundai (-36.7%) and Ford (-41.3%). BMW (+96.5%) and Suzuki (+138.1%) post smashing lifts while Mercedes (+0.9%) closes the Top 10 in positive. Below, notice Cupra (+518.8%), Ssangyong (+106.8%) and Mini (+71.4%) score stunning gains.
Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (+55.5%) surges ahead year-on-year to keep the pole position but at 8.4% share it is well below its YTD level of 10.1%. The Dacia Duster (-23.2%) stays in 2nd place above the Sandero (-37.1%) and Spring (-15.7%), all three models falling faster than the market. The Top 5 is now 100% Dacia this month, with the Skoda Octavia (-15.3%) sliding into 5th place above the Dacia Jogger (+34.4%). The Toyota RAV4 (+13.3%) is up six spots on August to #8 while the Renault Clio (+3.1%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10. Indeed both the Hyundai Tucson (-42%) and Toyota Corolla (-26.3%) sink. The Suzuki S-Cross (+118.4%), Vitara (+163.5%), Renault Arkana (+83.1%) and Ssangyong Korando (+287.9%) all shine further down.
