The Suzuki Alto is up to 36.5% share in August.
According to local association PAMA, the Pakistani new light vehicle market sinks -34.9% year-on-year to 7,579. Although drastic, this is an improvement on the -57% of July. Grave production issues linked to the non-availability of CKD parts due to the absence of Letters of Credit continue to brutally hamper the market. The year-to-date tally is now off -66.8% to 55,435. Note Changan and Kia do not report sales figures to PAMA but are reported to be quite successful here.
Market leader Suzuki (+7.9%) reverses the general trend to climb to a fantastic 56.3% share, its highest this year and to be compared with 42.8% year-to-date. Toyota (-60.1%), Hyundai (-59.7%) and Honda (-62.7%) all fall faster than the market. Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+20.8%) here too ignores the depleted market to reach 36.5% share vs. 21.6% after 8 months. The Suzuki Swift (-4.9%) and WagonR (-1.6%) also posts splendid holds. The Sazgar Haval H6 hits a record 8th place.
