Sales of locally produced light vehicles in Pakistan slip down -4.2% year-on-year in 2022 to 227,392 units. Suzuki (+2.6%) goes against the negative market to improve its share to a suffocating 55.4% vs. 51.7% a year ago. Toyota (-20.8%) and Honda (-11.8%) are in difficulty below while Hyundai (+44.7%) surges ahead. Chery (#6) and Sazgar Haval (#8) make their first appearance in the charts.
Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+23.3%) tightens its grip on the charts with 29.2% share vs. 22.7% in 2021. It even commanded 40.6% of the market in December, its second highest share below the record 41.7% it hit in September 2019. The Toyota Corolla (-16.6%) is estimated to overtake the Toyota Yaris (-37.5%) for 2nd place while the Suzuki Wagon R (-18.8%) and Honda Civic (estimated -14.4%) round out the Top 5. The Suzuki Swift (+607.1%) displays fantastic health at #7 vs. #15 last year.
