The Colombian new vehicle market rises 4.8% year-on-year in 2022 to 262,595 units. Renault (+2.9%) remains the best-selling carmaker in the country while Chevrolet (+18.6%) catches up in 2nd place. Toyota (+34.1%) and Suzuki (+43.3%) both surge up to #3 and #4 respectively, up two and three spots on 2021. Volkswagen (+8.1%) and Kia (+7.5%) also beat the market but Hyundai (-5.7%), Ford (-19.2%), Mazda (-25.4%) and Nissan (-48.5%) all sink in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, notice BYD (+460%), Foton (+54.2%), DFSK (+43.4%), Honda (+32.9%), JAC (+29.2%), JMC (+24.4%) and Citroen (+17.6%) all posting fantastic gains.
Over in the models ranking, the Suzuki Swift (+199.5%) triples its sales year-on-year and soars 14 spots to finish the year a clear leader with 4.6% share. The Renault Duster (+15.1%) stays in 2nd place at an improved 4.1% share while the Chevrolet Onix (+78%) catches up on a 2021 volume impacted by stock shortages and lifts 7 ranks to #3. The Chevrolet Joy (+41.1%) is equally in great shape with the Renault Kwid (-0.7%) edging down and rounding out the Top 5. All remaining Top 10 models trail the market, with the Mazda CX-30 (-41.3%), #1 in 2021, and the Kia Picanto (-11.2%) hit the hardest. Outside the Top 10, the Chevrolet Tracker (+41.8%), Toyota Corolla Cross (+56.7%), VW Gol (+48.2%) and Toyota Hilux (+31.2%) impress.
