Sydney drive-in cinema is for electrical vehicles solely

Over the last few years drive-in cinemas have been making a comeback across Australia, and the latest location to join the line-up is the first of its kind.

Sydney is switching on the first pop-up drive-in cinema exclusively for electric vehicles thanks to Polestar. It’ll be powered by battery packs, in keeping with the electric car theme, but EV owners won’t be able to charge on site.

The pop-up will run at the Entertainment Quarter carpark in Sydney’s Moore Park between May 4 and May 7, 2023.

Each ticket is $49.90 and includes up to five people per (electric) vehicle… unless you drive a Polestar, in which case it’s free.

The four night line-up features a range of blockbusters:

  • Thursday 4th May – Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre
  • Friday 5th May – Avatar 2: The Way of Water
  • Saturday 6th May – The Super Mario Bros. Movie (SOLD OUT)
  • Sunday 7th May – Dirty Dancing

The carmaker has teamed up with Mov’in Car for the experience.

Moviegoers can purchase locally-sourced and organic menu options to fight mid-film cravings, and contactless delivery allows patrons to order their food online and have it delivered without interrupting the movie.
