Would you like your last ride to be in a Suzuki S-Cross?
Images of a previous-generation Suzuki S-Cross that has been stretched and converted to a hearse have been posted online thanks to Twitter user Poptakayoshi.
This S-Cross hearse appears to be owned by Hamamatsu Funeral Co., Ltd. Hamamatsu is a Japanese city located in the Shizuoka prefecture and is around halfway between Tokyo and Osaka.
The Twitter user claims this S-Cross hearse measures in at 6.2 metres long, which is around 1.9 metres longer than the regular model.
They also claim the conversion cost was three times the price of the vehicle itself. For context, when the previous-generation S-Cross launched in Japan it started at around ¥2 million (~A$23,000).
This means the funeral company could have spent almost $70,000 in converting this regular S-Cross into a hearse.
It’s unclear if there have been any powertrain modifications made to this S-Cross hearse to compensate for the extra length and weight. In Australia both the previous- and current-generation S-Cross are powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 103kW of power and 220Nm of torque.
It appears the S-Cross hearse retains a second row of seating as the C-pillar has been extended and covered with vinyl wrap and a metal embellishment.
The rear section where the coffin goes is finished almost entirely in white, with quilted leather-looking sections and polished metal hardware.
