Skoda has revealed its ninth and latest apprentice car that’s been designed by students at the Skoda Academy.
Dubbed the Skoda Roadiaq, this car has been transformed into a mobile home that can be used as a mobile office or bedroom.
The 29 students used a regular Skoda Enayq iV as a base and spent over 2000 hours transforming the electric vehicle (EV) into its final form.
Some exterior highlights of the Skoda Roadiaq include a raised roof to allow more interior space, a modified rear left door handle and a redesigned tailgate that allows for the attachment of a tent at the rear.
Compared to the production Skoda Enyaq iV, the Roadiaq is 434mm taller at 2050mm, has a slightly longer wheelbase at 2770mm and boasts more ground clearance at 190mm.
The 4649mm length and 1879mm width measurements of the Roadiaq are unchanged from the regular Enyaq.
The car’s dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain remains unaltered with a total system output of 195kW. It also has the same 82kWh battery pack as the regular model and has a claimed WLTP range of 495km.
Inside, the Roadiaq is a work station up front with a special tablet holder on an adjustable arm. In the back there’s also a 27-inch monitor with a docking station, wireless keyboard and mouse.
There’s also tailor-made furniture that allows the Roadiaq’s living space to be converted into a bedroom. Included is a shower, coffee machine, folding table and chairs, power sockets, and a fully equipped kitchenette with a cooker.
The Roadiaq’s electrical equipment can be powered by solar panel, or when camping it can be connected to mains.
The car’s exterior has been given a Moon White and Emerald Green two-tone finish, whereas the interior features a number of completely recycled and recyclable materials.
This latest creation by the Skoda Academy students joins the likes of the Kamiq-based Afriq rally car, Scala-based Slavia speedster, Kodiaq-based Mountiaq ute, Karoq-based Sunroq convertible, and the Fabia-based Funstar ute.
Like these, the Roadiaq won’t be offered in showrooms as it’s a one-off.
Skoda Australia recently confirmed its initial plans for the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe electric crossovers, ahead of orders opening around the second quarter of 2024.
