Tesla Cybertruck: First take a look at electrical ute’s inside

The Tesla Cybertruck‘s interior has been revealed ahead of its launch later this year.

The images posted to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum gives us a first look at the interior of a prototype that was on display during the recent shareholder day.

Based on its exterior design, it’s not surprising how deep the dashboard runs before reaching the base of the windscreen.

The steering wheel isn’t the same as any other Tesla model currently on the market, resembling a mash-up between the brand’s conventional steering wheels and its new yoke. Buttons can be found on each of the two spokes.

There’s a large landscape-oriented central touchscreen like on other Tesla models, while there doesn’t appear to be any transmission shifter.

That suggests the driver will use the infotainment system to change from park to drive and reverse.

It was expected that the extra-large ute would feature an extra seat in the first row however, it doesn’t appear that is still the case.

The centre console appears mounted to the floor, and appears to contain storage compartments.

Tesla released overall specifications for the Cybertruck on its USA website in 2021, but has since removed the details.

According to the company, the Cybertruck was set to offer 800km of range, a 6.4 tonne towing capacity, and would be capable of a 2.9-second sprint to 60mp/h (96 km/h).

It was also set to offer a choice of single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual- and tri-motor all-wheel drive powertrains.

Tesla has confirmed the Cybertruck is on track for production to begin later this year, with mass production beginning during 2024.

CEO Elon Musk told investors last month that a “hand over” for the first deliveries is planned for the third quarter of 2023.

It’s expected the brand will confirm final pricing and specifications closer to that date.
