Tesla Mannequin Y extremely dominant, Peugeot 2008 as much as #2, market up 5.9% – Finest Promoting Automobiles Weblog


The Peugeot 2008 is up to #2 in Iceland in February.

New car sales in Iceland gain 5.9% year-on-year in February to 934 units, leading to a year-to-date volume down -5.7% to 1,665 sales. Tesla takes control of the brands charts thanks to a 87% year-on-year surge to 18.4% share. Having ranked #24 in January, the American brand is bow #3 year-to-date with sales up 84.4%. Toyota (-10.1%) is relegated to 2nd place for the month but holds on to #1 YTD (+9.1%). Kia (-5.8%) and Hyundai (-22.5%) also can’t keep up with the market’s growth and are both down one spot on January to #3 and #4 respectively. Peugeot (+22.2%) is up a whopping 26 ranks on last month to #5, distancing Volkswagen (+400%), Mazda (+59.3%) and Dacia (+75%) all in outstanding shape.

Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y is ultra-dominant at 17.7% share, selling more than four times any other vehicle in market. The Dacia Duster climbs three spots to #2, equal with the Peugeot 2008 which didn’t sell any unit in January. The Kia Sportage stays at #4 while the Toyota RAV4 is up 12 ranks to #5 and the Land Rover Defender up four to #6. Note the Defender now ranks #5 year-to-date. At #7, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 makes it 7 SUVs in the Top 7. The VW ID.3 soars to #8 ahead of the Mazda2 and Hyundai i20 completing the Top 10. Notice also the Jeep Compass up to #12, the Maxus Euniq 6 up to #13 and the MG EHS up to #15.
