The Finnish new car market is up 7.3% year-on-year in 2023 to 86.114 units. This is still a weak result as 2022 was the lowest tally in 27 years. Toyota (-1.4%) conserves the brands top spot but sees its share drop from 18% to 16.6%. In contrast Skoda (+30.6%) has a fantastic year and climbs two spots to #2. Volkswagen (+7.2%) matches the market but drops one rank to #3. Volvo (+8.7%) takes advantage of a weak result by Kia (-4.3%) to leap up to #4. Tesla (+263.5%) is the best performer in the entire market is climbs 8 spots to #6. Audi (+29.5%) also impresses in the remainder of the Top 10.
Over in the models ranking, the Tesla Model Y (+329%) spectacularly takes control with 5.7% share, going from #13 to #1 and multiplying its 2022 volume by more than 4. The Toyota Corolla (-8.5%) is in difficulty and bumped down to #2. The Skoda Octavia (+29.9%) has a strong year to land inside the podium, while the Skoda Enyaq (+112.7%) does even better and lifts 8 ranks to #4. As a result the Volvo XC60 (+18.7%) drops to #5 despite a solid result. The Toyota Yaris (-28%) freefalls to #6 ahead of the Volvo XC40 (+21.8%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+15.7%). The VW ID.4 (+100.2%) is up 10 ranks to #10 while the BMW i4 (+134.1%) is up 27 to #11 and the Peugeot 2008 (+159.9%) up 33 to #13.
