In good news for electric vehicle (EV) owners – albeit perhaps bad news for Tesla owners – almost half of all Tesla Superchargers in Australia are now open to all brands.
In total, 30 of its 63 Superchargers nationwide can now be used by non-Tesla vehicles.
Five of the company’s Superchargers in New South Wales had already been opened to non-Tesla EVs as part of a pilot program.
The following locations are now open to all EV drivers:

- Dubbo
- Hollydene
- Knockrow
- Narooma
- Tamworth
- Tenterfield
- Wollongong
Queensland
South Australia
- Clare
- Mount Gambier
- Tailem Bend
Victoria
- Bendigo
- Box Hill
- Cann River
- Colac
- Geelong
- Moe
- Mornington
- Shepparton
- Yea
- Warrnambool
Western Australia
That means only Tasmania and the Northern Territory lack Superchargers for all EV users. You can view a map of locations on Tesla’s website.
Tesla claims its global Supercharger network, powered entirely by renewable sources, delivered a global uptime average of 99.95 per cent in 2022.
It also says by opening up its Supercharger network in countries like Australia, it’s supporting its core mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
“I think we do want to emphasize that it is our goal to support the advent of sustainable energy, it is not to create a walled garden and use that to bludgeon our competitors, which is sometimes used by some companies,” said Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a 2021 earnings call.
