Tesla ups Mannequin 3, Mannequin Y costs once more

Tesla has increased the pricing of its entire range of electric vehicles (EVs), following a recent price cut.

The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y ranges are now $400 more expensive across the board. It’s worth noting the company doesn’t publish list pricing that includes Luxury Car Tax, which means the price increases vary if you take this into account.

These price increases follow a previous $400 increase for rear-wheel drive models earlier this year.

Pricing for the Tesla Model 3 sedan now starts at $64,300 before on-road costs for the single-motor RWD, and extends to $90,300 before on-roads and Luxury Car Tax for the dual-motor Performance.

Pricing for the Tesla Model Y SUV now starts at $69,300 before on-roads for the single-motor RWD, and extends to $95,300 before on-roads and LCT for the dual-motor Performance.

As noted above, this latest price rise follows a recent price cut of up to $3400 that also saw the pricing of a number of the paint and wheel options slashed.

At the same time, however, Tesla slightly bumped up the pricing of both the order and delivery fees. The order fee is now $400, and the delivery fee is now $1400 – increases of $50 and $25.

Tesla typically honours the pricing that was displayed at the time of ordering.

In January the Tesla Model 3 was Australia’s best-selling passenger car according to VFACTS industry sales data, with 2927 of them getting into customer hands.

It was the highest-ever finish for an EV in the Australian market. Current delivery windows are February to June, owing to strong supply.

The Model 3 also drove overall EV sales to a 5.7 per cent total market share, almost double the overall EV share figure from calendar year 2022.

The Model Y is more supply-constrained however, managing only 386 January deliveries. The crossover is subject to current delivery windows of April to June.

Updated pricing for the 2023 Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are as follows:

Model 3

  • 2023 Tesla Model 3 RWD: $64,300 (+$400)
  • 2023 Tesla Model 3 Long Range: $77,300 (+$400)
  • 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance: $90,300 (+$400)

Model Y

  • 2023 Tesla Model Y RWD: $69,300 (+$400)
  • 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance: $95,300 (+$400)

All prices are before on-road costs, order and deliveries fees, and Luxury Car Tax if applicable.
