The Advantages of Blueberries for the Pores and skin

BLUEBERRIES.

The plump, juicy, delicious brain food & superfood we call blueberries are just fucking phenomenal for your skin. PHENOMENAL.

You may have heard already that they’re packed with lots of antioxidants and vitamins which combat the free radicals in our bodies. They’re just as packed with disease-fighting properties with high levels of salicylic acid & also taste amazing. Total win.

It was very purposeful that I added blueberry seed oil to the ICE QUEEN facial oil. And because you know I love to get micro with you, I decided to do a blog post for you on the beauty & skin benefits of blueberries.

There are so many I don’t even know where to start.

Before we get into it though, I just want to mention that Zaza’s favorite food was blueberries when she was starting solids. It’s a great starting food for babies because they’re healthy, sweet, easy to take with you on the go, & babies seem to love them. (I squish them before I give them to her so she doesn’t choke.)

The Health Benefits of Blueberries for the Skin:

♡ antioxidant rich to help prevent oxidative stress that causes skin problems and premature signs of aging, which we love.

♡ improve circulation because it helps your body send nutrients & oxygen to the skin which makes it healthier.

♡ fight free radicals that help support your skin’s immune system from too much sun exposure.

♡ full of Vitamins A, C & E that promote skin health.

♡ it is found that Blueberry extracts are high in anthocyanin, which produces collagen and elastin.

♡ my favorite benefit: they help brighten up dull skin which is great if you have hyperpigmentation ( buh-bye sunspots ).

♡ they balance hormones which can help with acne prevention.

♡ lastly, & most importantly….they’re anti-inflammatory.

To touch on that last one a bit more, inflammation is literally the reason I created my product line. It’s all about things that fight inflammation & bloat.

Inflammation is a huge cause of wrinkles so I wanted to create products that stop inflammation from happening instead of covering it up.

The Skinny Confidential ice roller will instantly depuff & debloat. Not to mention it feels fucking amazing.

The ICE QUEEN facial oil will help hydrate & firm your skin while decreasing the look of fine lines & wrinkles. It smells light, clean & natural (because it is), it’s simple, to the point & gets the job done. Just how we like it.

So not only does the ICE QUEEN facial oil have pomegranate seed oil & raspberry seed oil, it has BLUEBERRY seed oil. WHY? Because studies have shown that it’s one of the most powerful antioxidants that helps improve the skin’s elasticity, smoothness & density- not to mention it’s hydrating AF.

The ICE QUEEN facial oil is also: vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, with no synthetic fragrance.

SO !!! Blueberry oil on your skin. Try it. Learn it. Live it. Love it. You’ll be obsessed.

It would so fun to do a DIY blueberry face mask too. I found this one that’s so easy, I bet you have both (yes only 2) of the ingredients at home.

All you do is mash up 1/2 cup of blueberries (fresh), then mix it with 1 cup of plain yogurt. Put it on your face & leave it for 20 mins (to be real I’d probably leave it on for an hour – LOL), then rinse it off with warm water. The website says that yogurt has lactic acid in it which promotes new cell turnover.

How To Eat More Blueberries:

♡ add them to a smoothie

This is my favorite way to eat blueberries. Throw them in a blender with some spinach, half a banana, almond milk & ice. Some other fun additions are hemp hearts, a scoop of almond butter or a date.

♡ on top of oatmeal

Crushed Blueberries are so good on top of oatmeal & cereal. When I was pregnant with Zaza I was obsessed with this super nostalgic cereal. I would eat it every night topped with cinnamon & fresh blueberries.

♡ make your own jam

One of the best hacks I ever came up with is to make your own jam. You can use any berry for this. Take your blueberries & mash them with a fork. Add some high quality maple syrup, chia seeds, then mix it all together with a squeeze of lemon.

It’s delicious & so quick & easy it’s ridiculous.

Try to get organic blueberries if possible, but my favorite ones are from Farmer’s Markets. The ones at the grocery store just seem too big to be natural. I want blueberries that are just picked from grandma’s field. Ya know? small & dainty with all the right nutrients.

Before we go, here are 3 of my favorite recipes with blueberries:

fiber-filled blueberry waffles

FIBER can come from many sources but GG’s are an efficient way to add fiber & I just like them- weird but I actually think they’re good.

morning spa water

Hydrating in the morning is just so necessary… know more of the benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach.

skinny syrup

TSC Healthy, Skinny Syrup…For Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, You Name It!

Let me know your favorite blueberry recipes below. I’m in the mood for a fun, new blueberry muffin to try.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I’m off to slather my face in blueberries & yogurt.

x, lauryn
