The Banish 30 Gold Delivers in South Africa

In this article we are going to be looking at one of the most versatile suppressors in my arsenal, the Silencer Central Banish 30 Gold. We are fresh off another African safari and ready to dive in on what we experienced.

As they say, variety is the spice of life and when it comes to suppressors, I love being able to use a single can on a variety of firearms. While I have had the pleasure of using and testing all of the suppressors that Silencer Central has to offer, the Banish 30 Gold always finds it’s way in to my gun case. There are a number of reasons why the Banish 30 Gold is my favorite and after using it again on my most recent Safari I think I may have found a few more.

Rifle Setup

On this trip I had a brand new rifle, optic, and ammo that I was putting through the paces and I was very happy to have my tried and tru Banish 30 Gold to pair. While there aren’t any issues with using new products, there is always a sense of comfort you get when you are able to run gear that you have tested and trust. My rifle on this trip was the all new Savage Arms 110 Ultralite Elite which has a folding stock as well as carbon fiber accessories. For my optic, I tapped in to the newly updated Burris Optics Veracity PH which you can read and watch our review here. Finally, I was testing out the all new for 2024 Premier Cut copper tipped ammunition from Remington.

This safari set up was one of my overall favorite pairings I have used on a trip in recent memory. The new Veracity PH from Burris is an incredible step forward in scope technology, the Ultralite Elite is lightweight but durable and has the look of an incredibly high end rifle platform. I also experienced incredible results with the new Premier Cut ammunition, further solidfying my opinion of the devastating effects Remington hunting ammunition has on prey.

The Suppressor

As previously mentioned, my chariot of sound suppression on this safari was the Silencer Central Banish 30 Gold. The Banish 30 Gold is a .30 cal suppressor that is sold as a package which includes two muzzle breaks pitched for 1/2×28 or 5/8×24. Rated for calibers from rimfire all the way up to 300 RUM, the Banish 30 Gold delivers incredible versatility for hunting or tactical applications. The mounting solution for the Banish 30 Gold departs from the normal direct thread solution offered by Silencer Central and delivers a quick detach(QD) mount.

My Experience

This is my second year in a row headed back to the Limpopo Valley in South Africa. We have been hunting with Ranchero Safaris and our good friend Magnus Crossberg who not only is a blast to hunt with, but delivers the goods while we are on the ground. In the past two years, we’ve been fortunate to harvest over 20 animals between two hunters and have not left the dark continent without our lists checked off. The obvious reason we have been so successful is that our P.H. Magnus has the ability to get us on animals every day. The other reason for our success is our gear. Hunting abilities aside, our gear has to be trusted when we are traveling thousands of miles across the Atlantic Ocean and will not be able to find replacements or parts in a foreign country.

Banish 30 Gold 24 Africa 2

The Banish 30 Gold is my most trusted piece of gear and I not only bring it on every hunt with me, it is my default suppressor when I need to deliver in the field. I’m going to break down the best and favorite features that the Banish 30 Gold has to offer.

  • Sounds Suppression –  The Banish 30 Gold‘s main job is to protect my ears and the ears of those who are around me. My favorite caliber is the venerable 300WinMag which averages around a 160+ decibel output at the muzzle. The Banish 30 Gold offers 36Db reduction which brings the Db range closer to that have a hammer hitting a nail.
  • Size – With my top caliber choice being the 300 WinMag, I am almost always hunting with a rifle that has a 24″ or longer barrel. The Banish 30 Gold is 8.2″ in length and it does not drastically impact the balance of my rifle or impact the maneuverability of my rifle in the field.
  • Weight – Sitting at just 13.2 oz, the Banish 30 Gold is a manageable weight to bring on a safari style or backcountry hunt.
  • Mount – While I have become a bit of a suppressor snob and will always try to shoot or hunt with a suppressor, occasionally I may find myself shooting without a suppressor and I love having a muzzle break on my rifles.

When it comes to hunting, gear, travel, and success I always gravitate to my most trusted and tested gear. In the world of suppressors, my most trusted and tested product is hands down the Banish 30 Gold.
