The brand new options the BYD Atto 3 will get with its newest replace

BYD has released the latest over-the-air (OTA) software update for its Atto 3 electric crossover, which it says brings better range estimation, along with other improvements and optimisations.

The BYD Atto 3 now receives a dynamic range estimation function, in addition to the existing estimation based on NEDC testing, to reflect real-time range based on your use of the car.

This different range estimation function can be toggled in the Atto 3’s vehicle settings.

Other changes with this OTA software update include the following:

  • Improved ventilation function after the air compressor shuts off to prevent fogging after shut-off in cooler temperatures
  • Optimisation of DC charging power, extending high-power charging duration
  • Improved DC charging gun locking communication
  • Improved capability of wireless charging function

BYD has been on a tear the last few months with recent updates. Recent additions include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, mobile app connectivity, native navigation, and conversational voice prompts.

The BYD Atto 3 was the first electric vehicle (EV) the company sold in Australia. Local deliveries of the electric crossover started in September last year.

The Atto 3 is currently priced from $48,011 before on-roads for the Standard Range, and $51,011 before on-roads for the Extended Range.

As recently reported, BYD has announced it plans to bring four new EVs to Australia over the next 12 months.

Deliveries of the Dolphin will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, and BYD’s local distributor EVDirect says the Seal will come soon but didn’t confirm specific launch timing.

“We’re excited to be bringing the types of cars Australians want,” Luke Todd, CEO of BYD’s local distributor EVDirect, told CarExpert.

In addition to the Dolphin and Seal, there will be the previously confirmed ute, as well as an unspecified SUV.

It’s unclear which SUV BYD will bring to Australia. It could be the Sea Lion, reported in Chinese media as BYD’s upcoming Tesla Model Y rival.
