The Finest Crispy French Toast Recipe With Cornflakes

This crispy French toast recipe is a delicious twist on the classic breakfast dish. It’s made by dipping bread slices in a mixture of eggs, milk and vanilla, then coating them with crushed cornflakes and frying them until golden and crunchy. It’s easy to make and serves as a perfect choice for a weekend brunch or a special occasion.

French toast is always a wonderful breakfast treat, especially when you use slices of homemade bread that can hold up better for dunking into the milk and egg mixture than wimpy slices of spongy, commercial sandwich bread. My recipe for this coated French toast offers a crunchier corn infused outer layer than the traditional version for a heartier and scrumptious breakfast treat.

I won’t deny that you do have one extra step to follow compared to making regular golden French toast. You will need a rolling pin for smashing the cornflakes into finer crumbs after dipping the moistened bread from the eggs and milk for the final coating.

If you don’t happen to have a rolling pin, then you can always improvise using a can. Clean a can that had a vegetable or soup to use to substitute as a tool. But if you haven’t opened a can yet, you also wrap a wax paper or aluminum foil around it while pulverizing the cornflakes to keep it more sanitary.

Another tip I want to share is folding a big sheet of wax paper over the cornflakes to contain the crumbs once you start flattening them. This will prevent a mess and keep the cornflakes together instead of them scattering.

Serve these cooked bread slices with syrup or with melted butter and a sprinkle of confectioners’ sugar or just some cinnamon sugar to jam.

When you are hungry for French toast, I hope that you’ll try this yummy recipe. Speaking of breakfast, you should taste my cinnamon pancakes and gingerbread waffles. Please feel free to share with your family and friends and come back to my blog to check out more.

Crispy French Toast Recipe

3 large eggs
½ cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of cornflakes
4 tablespoons of melted butter or canola oil
6 slices of dense white bread

Beat the eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt together in a large mixing bowl until well combined.

On a large sheet of wax paper, you’ll need a rolling pin to crush the cornflakes. Double the wax paper over the cornflakes first before rolling into a finer crumb helps keep them better in place.

Next, dip a slice of bread into the egg and milk mixture before taking that slice to the sheet or a dinner plate with the crumbs and pressing the cornflakes into the bread on both sides.

Now take it to your frying pan where you have warmed the melted butter or oil waiting.

Keep repeating these steps until you finish with both the egg mixture and the crumbs for cooking those six pieces of bread.

ENJOY!
