The Greatest 2025 Off-Highway Autos: Journey-Prepared From the Manufacturing unit

Factory off-roaders just keep getting better. Every year, we get more and more extreme off-road packages that deliver performance on and off pavement that we could only have dreamed about just a few years ago.

Even better, they do it with a factory warranty. There are so many it can be hard to keep track, but don’t worry. We’ve got you.

These are the best 2025 factory off-road vehicles for when you need more than just the average 4×4. We’re so spoiled for choice these days that if it doesn’t have 35-inch tires from the factory, it doesn’t even qualify.

The Chevrolet and GMC twins offer impressive capability in their basic off-road models, the ZR2 and AT4X. That includes DSSV dampers and jounce control shocks from Multimatic, locking front and rear differentials, and a 3-inch lift to go with the 310-horsepower 2.7L turbo-four.

The ZR2 Bison and AT4X AEV grades boost that capability thanks to extras from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). AEV adds its heavy-duty winch-capable front bumper and a stronger rear bumper, and the trucks come with boron steel skid plates and rocker protectors.

There are fender flares to cover the 35-inch mud-terrain tires. You even get a bed-mounted tire carrier to ensure you have access to the spare at all times — and because a 35 won’t fit between the frame rails under the truck.

Ram 1500 RHO

To replace its 702-horsepower mammoth off-road TRX pickup, Ram is trying something it has never tried before — removing horsepower.

Regulations have put an end to the 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8, but that isn’t putting an end to Ram’s off-road party. Enter the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO that takes all of the off-road bits from the TRX and swaps in a twin-turbo 3.0L inline-six.

You get 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque, but you also get a lower price tag and, we expect, a smaller fuel bill. The new engine is lighter, too, which means better balance when it’s time to jump it.

You still get adaptive performance shocks from Bilstein, an active transfer case, and a five-link rear suspension that offers 14 inches of rear axle travel.

If you want a stupidly powerful supercharged V8 dune-jumping pickup truck, you still have one choice. The Ford F-150 Raptor R, with its 720-horse supercharged 5.2L V8. If you don’t want all that power, there’s still a 450-horse 3.5L twin-turbo V6 that has most of the same jumping parts but is a little more manageable.

The Raptor and Raptor R get 3.1-inch diameter Fox Racing shocks that now have the company’s Dual Live Valve technology for better control and a better ride. A long travel suspension delivers 14 inches of front travel and 15 inches in the rear, or slightly less if you tick the option box for the mammoth 37-inch BFG KO2 tires Ford offers as standard on the R or as an option on the regular Raptor.

Want to go off-road but still need to tow nearly 20,000 pounds or have more payload than any other dedicated off-road model? The Silverado HD ZR2 and Sierra HD AT4X AEV are your go-to.

The off-road HDs get Multimatic DSSV shocks just like the Colorado and Canyon, but they’re tailored to this heavy-duty application. The HD off-roaders are based on a 2500 HD truck, but come with new upper and lower control arms and steering knuckles.

The steel skid plate for the transfer case is larger, and there is an aluminum skid plate up front. The HDs also get an e-locker rear differential and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires. The trucks are offered with either a 6.6L gas V8 or 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel engine.

Moving to the Bison or AEV adds AEV bumpers front and rear with integrated recovery points designed for this heavy truck. It also adds a steel skid plate in front instead of the aluminum one and protects the steering rack and exhaust. The models get AEV wheels and AEV logos on the headrests to go with.

GMC Hummer EV Pickup

The only electric vehicle on this list is the GMC Hummer EV, because GMC has created one monster of an off-road EV.

To start, the basic Hummer EV truck has two motors with 570 horsepower and 311 miles of range. You can also get 1,000 horsepower and 381 miles from the 3X tri-motor truck.

An air suspension that can raise the truck up to 6 inches with extract mode and four-wheel steering with crab walk ensure you can make it through some seriously tough trails.

When you tick the box for the Extreme Off Roacd package, you get a locking front differential and full locking rear. You also get skid plates to cover some of the more sensitive parts underneath.

The package comes with front and rear-facing cameras under the body to help you avoid obstacles altogether, with washer jets to keep the lenses clean. Finally, the truck gets 18-inch wheels wearing 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires.

The Ford Bronco Raptor gives the four-door SUV the Raptor touch, including a 418 horsepower 3.0L EcoBoost engine and Fox Live Valve 3.1 semi-active shocks with position-sensitive damping.

The Bronco Raptor also has more protection from skid plates underneath. What really sets the Raptor apart from other Bronco models is its wide body. Beefier fenders with absolutely massive flares cover the standard 37-inch BFGoodrich K/O2 all-terrain tires.

Hop in the Bronco Raptor, and you get seats with bigger bolsters to keep you in place on the trail. There’s also a red stripe on the steering wheel in case you forget where straight ahead is in all of your off-road maneuvering.

The Bronco Raptor has locking front and rear differentials, a one-pedal drive mode, a front sway bar disconnect, and trail turn assist to help you get there and back.

Jeep Wrangler 392

Jeep said the 6.4L V8 Wrangler was dead, but then it changed its mind. We welcome the 470-horsepower rock jumper back for another year with open arms.

The Wrangler 392 will come only equipped with the Final Edition package for 2025. That includes an 8,000-pound Warn Winch, heavy-duty rock sliders, and 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires on beadlock capable 17-inch wheels. All that makes the 392 Final Edition sit a total of 6.4 inches taller than a standard Wrangler.

It also comes with Fox shocks, a full-time transfer case, and exhaust pipes that make more noise than anything else on this list. Sadly, but also sanely, it’s only offered on the four-door Wrangler, not the slightly more nimble and shorter-in-length two-door.
