Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Handcrafted in Nicaragua, the Osorio is a cleverly designed .22 caliber machine pistol that exhibits impressive craftsmanship for a one-off build. It utilizes an Italian-made 22-round magazine and fires from an open bolt in either semi-automatic or full-auto modes. Its selective-fire mechanism is particularly notable. The upper trigger slides straight back for full-auto. The lower pivoting trigger provides semi-only capability by momentarily releasing the sear to fire a single shot before relocking. Other standout features include a fixed firing pin that strikes the rimmed cartridge from both top and bottom for reliable ignition, as well as a folding VZ.61 Skorpion-style stock.
“Very unique .22 machine pistol made in Nicaragua by a man named OSORIO who wanted a .22 machine pistol and could not buy one. His answer was to make one himself. Consignor met maker and eventually purchased the gun and was able to bring the gun into the United States and register it for private ownership. Made of machined steel and sheet metal, this is a well-made gun. It utilizes an Italian made magazine and fires using a trigger that allows either semi, or full-auto fire and the gun incorporates both a grip safety and also a traditional lever safety on left side of frame. A spring-loaded catch at the rear of the frame allows the shoulder loop to swing out and lock into place. Rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation. Includes one 22 round magazine and green web sling. “
