I tested the Montana Knife Company Whitetail Knife at deer camp in Texas. It hasn’t even dropped to the general public yet, but I’m already a fan. Full disclosure: This isn’t a full review. It’s just a pre-drop teaser to let you know that this knife is worth getting in line for.

Listen, I know what you’re thinking. Do you really need another knife specific to the species of deer you’re hunting? The realist’s answer is: no. The GearJunkie answer is: obviously, you do. You just can’t have too many knives, amirite?

I had the good fortune of using the Whitetail Knife on a whitetail hunt in Texas. Once again, Montana Knife Company does not disappoint.

The only hangup: Can get your hands on one before they sell out?

MKC Whitetail Knife: Mini Pre-Drop Review

The Montana Knife Company Whitetail Knife has a look and feel that will be familiar to MKC fans. It’s small, sleek, nimble, and makes every cut without any extra effort required.

The biggest change that I noticed is the hand fit. There’s a stronger taper, and as a small-hand owner, I was pleasantly surprised by the palm feel. I asked a few big-mitted fellas how they felt about the handle, and the consensus was the same. It feels good in your hand.

I used the dang thing as a machete to chop through countless cactuses while out trudging around. The satisfying slice made a thick ol’ cactus split in two like a piece of tissue paper. It was an act of vengeance against the spikes I’m still picking out of my legs.

I certainly used the MKC Whitetail for its intended use as well, and I can attest that it get the job done. It’s another MagnaCut win from MKC.

Is It Worth It?

It’s hard for me to keep coming up with unique reasons that the MKC Whitetail is worth sitting online in the hopes of getting your hands on one. The reality is that it’s worth the money and the effort.

I love the knives Montana Knife Company puts out, and this one is no different.
