The Reality About Instagram Suspending Accounts: It Can Occur to You!

In 2021, Instagram deactivated my Beauty Cooks Kisses business account after it was hacked. I appealed and sent in the proof, but no human ever answered my constant pleas to their platforms on Facebook and Instagram to have it returned, despite the evidence I had. However, yesterday my friend had his PERSONAL account on Instagram suspended for of all crazy things of buying followers. Therefore, why is Instagram suspending accounts for no-good reason?

Who would pay money to buy followers for an Instagram personal account? The only thing he does on Instagram is entering giveaways–and not excessively, and I might add. In fact, he finished entering one giveaway with four entries and then started to enter another when this suspension popped up. This is funny because I see some people that regularly enter giveaways tagging between 10 and 18 entries and nothing ever happens to those accounts. I don’t care how many entries people tag others with, but targeting someone after four is unfair.

Apparently, he can’t even appeal the Instagram suspension since he uses the computer to access Instagram instead of a mobile phone. So it seems that ends his Instagram account. Therefore, what does that have to do with this possibly happening to you with Instagram suspending your account next?

Since the suspension of my business account, I was using my personal Instagram account to share some of my posts and reviews of books I love to read. I also to like entering giveaways for fun when I get a chance. I also got temporarily blocked several times for no-good reasons such as buying followers for a PERSONAL account, then once for self-promoting a book on my page that I reviewed when asked about a good book I just read as a part of a giveaway entry. Another time I was temporarily blocked and once again in Instagram jail for another week at a time for tagging a friend with a book related account. I even wrote when the Instagram screen popped up with tell us if we made a mistake, which I told them countless times to no avail. Probably one day soon enough, I’ll experience the same Instagram problem.

Just for the record, I just logged into my personal Instagram account and checked my messages and then entered one book giveaway after my fourth entry, I also got my PERSONAL Instagram account suspended! What kind of insane nonsense is this?

What I Learned (the Hard Way) About Instagram Appeals

Though you can appeal, I doubt it would make any difference from my previous own personal experience with Instagram suspending accounts. Others that had the same problem lately went through the appeal process and still never had their accounts restored. Despite proof sent in for her appeal, one influencer that had hundreds of thousands of followers was not successful either in her appeal as well. After all, those appeals are apparently handled by Instagram bots. In her case, her husband contacted a legislator that reached out to Instagram and got her HUGE account back. Seriously, I doubt they would want to waste their time with small accounts.

All this is crazy nonsense so I ask you why is Instagram doing this? You would think that Instagram would be more vigilant in trying to shut down fake celebrity accounts with the same name or a hyphen or an extra letter added to the star’s name or business that also shows a fake photo or logo, but no. Those illegitimate accounts seem to slide by from all the ones I keep seeing. Their bots are supposed to help safeguard the young from bad influences as well as hate speech, but I don’t see it.

Computer technology is wonderful, but hardly a perfect solution when it forces us to deal with a machine instead of an actual human. These days if you contact a large organization to help resolve an issue or question you have, you deal with the computer, which cannot understand what is going on through its limited programming.

Collective Action: Sharing Our Stories for Change

Instagram suspending accounts for no valid reason is happening so stay aware. Please if this happened to your account, share it here because none of this makes logical sense to me. You would think Instagram would want all eyes on their website to view advertisements, but apparently it doesn’t appear that way.

If more of us got together to spread the word, perhaps, some human at Instagram might take notice to initiate change to restore unjustly blocked accounts. They also need to improve their bots in how they handle accounts.
