Body splashes are back, and if you need proof, just check out any of Sol De Janeiro’s popular perfume mists. The body- and hair-care brand inspired by the joyful, always-summer spirit of Brazil is famous for its best-selling body creams and shimmery body oils, but the perfume mists have been consistent viral favorites on TikTok, amassing millions upon millions of views. And unlike those treacly, one-note spritzes we all wore in high school, Sol De Janeiro perfume mists have nuanced, captivating scents that you’d previously only get out of a much pricier perfume. The brand’s new Rio Radiance Perfume Mist ($38) is no different. Launched just a few weeks ago, it’s a solar floral fragrance that captures the nostalgia of your best beach days complete with the the sweet scent of sun-kissed skin. Unsurprisingly, we’re already hooked—along with the rest of the internet.

The permanent reimagining of Sol De Janeiro’s limited-edition “Tan Lines” scent that came and went last summer, the Rio Radiance Perfume Mist bursts with notes of creamy coconut milk, solar tuberose, and warm sand that’ll make you want to jet-set to a tropical beach ASAP.

“I wanted to capture the transportive experience of a vacation in Rio,” explains Vincent Kuczinski, a senior perfumer at Mane Fragrances who created “Rio Radiance.” “[And] create a fragrance that evokes the radiant sun on salty skin and the warmth of the sand with a solar floral, with notes of tuberose and ylang ylang.” Kuczinski paired the sophisticated, sun-soaked floral notes with Sol De Janeiro’s “Cheirosa” fragrance, a sweet, gourmand scent that’s a cut above the normal vanilla scents you wore in the ’90s. “The creamy vanilla is enveloped in coconut milk to give a mouthwatering richness and playfulness,” he says. Tl;Dr: It smells like bottled sunshine—which is exactly what our senses have been craving after a long and gloomy winter.

If you’re familiar with Sol De Janeiro’s original “Cheriosa ‘62″ ($38) fragrance—the salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla scent of its customer-beloved Bum Bum Cream ($48)—Rio Radiance has a much beachier vibe. “With ‘Cheriosa ’62’, we wanted to wholeheartedly capture and communicate the idea of the Brazilian concept of cheirosa [which means ‘perfumed’], so for us, smelling incredibly delicious meant using edible, gourmand notes that instantly uplift and bring joy,” the brand’s perfumer, Jerome Epinette, explains. “Rio Radiance contains unique floral notes that evoke the sun and sand of a vacation in Rio.”

Unlike those old-school body mists with scents that end up disappearing in a flash, Sol De Janeiro mists actually last on the skin. The Rio Radiance Perfume Mist starts off floral and sweet before drying down down to a warm, vanilla and amber scent that lingers without being overwhelming. Even after a long day spent out and about, you’ll still be able to sell its sunny, tropical floral scent on your skin.

Needless to say, we won’t be leaving home without it this spring and summer—and thankfully we won’t have to, because it’s also available in a travel-friendly 3 oz. bottle ($24) and in a limited-edition Illuminating Body Cream ($48) that feels as good as it smell. Order yours on Sephora, here.
