The relationship you have with your go-to running or walking shoe is a special one. But what if an injury or a chronic issue has kept you from hitting the trail or treadmill? Finding a shoe you can trust to get you back on track can feel like taking a leap of faith, blindfolded.

If you’re trying to find the shoe that will help you go the distance, post-injury, some of the features you might want to look for are extra cushion, a roomier fit, and a supportive midsole. These are also features to look for if you have wide feet or flat or low arches.

One shoe that fits the bill—and that podiatrists consistently recommend—is the Saucony Kinvara. Right now, the Kinvara 13 is up to 58 percent off for Prime Day.

Saucony Kinvara 13 — $50.00

Originally $120, on sale for as low as $50 for Prime Day

Sizes available: 5 to 12 (including wide sizes)
Colors: 18
Weight: 6.2 ounces
Heel to toe drop: 4mm
Sustainability: Vegan, and contains recycled materials

If you’re getting back on the treadmill after recovering from an injury, podiatrist Nelya Lobkova, DPM, previously told Well+Good that you’ll want to “make sure that the running shoes you select offer the correct amount of support, and also that they provide more shock absorption.”

Dr. Lobkova recommends the Kinvara for this task. Although Saucony initially designed this shoe for speed workouts and races, it’s a cushioned, supportive sneaker for all kinds of runners and walkers. The Kinvara features a relatively low heel-to-toe drop of just 4mm, which helps evenly distribute the stresses of each step that you take throughout your foot, rather than placing the bulk of it in your heel.

Another bonus is that this model is available in wide sizes, which means, as one Well+Good writer put it, “you can really stretch your toes out, preventing blisters and bunions.” Also of note: “Its cushioning is light and responsive as well, so you definitely feel like there’s something there—but it’s still springy enough for speed.” So it’s no surprise that Dr. Lobkova also recommends the Kinvara for people who need more support for a chronic issue like sciatica.

If you want to put some spring in your step and support in your stride, today might be your day to forge a new running shoe relationship.
