Nissan has revealed a Skyline concept vehicle in Japan that combines 30 accessory features to create what it’s calling an all-in-one eat, sleep and play experience.
The Nissan Skyline contemporary lifestyle vehicle concept, as it’s called, will be on display at the Nissan global headquarters from March 24 to April 2.
The Japanese automaker also released a YouTube video to go alongside the announcement.
The concept previews a raft of clever features, some of which are available as either factory or aftermarket accessories for Nissans in Japan.
Starting with the front row, there are various small tables, one of which folds out like an aeroplane tray table from the centre console.
Nissan has also added multiple uses for its sunshades and steering wheel.
The detachable sunshades also double as a small tray table that can attach to the steering wheel or be turned on their side to create a long table stretching from the roof.
A smartphone mount also comes out from the centre spoke of the steering wheel.
A few key highlights of the concept include an infotainment screen can be removed and used as a tablet, a large screen located on the roof of the rear passenger row, and multiple storage options including a small dustbin on the driver’s side mirror.
Other features include a 100V power socket on the passenger side mirror, a small blanket that is located on the driver’s side door and a retractable projector screen from the boot lid with an accompanying portable projector.
“Bricolage is well-suited for this kind of innovation. Above all, it was a lot of fun for us to prototype,” said Tetsuro Ueda, a technology expert in Nissan’s mobility and AI laboratory.
The Skyline was previously sold here as the Infiniti Q50, and continues to be exported to markets like North America under this nameplate.
It has been previously reported the ageing Skyline/Q50 will be replaced by an electric crossover, with Nissan reportedly having frozen development on a sedan successor after going through multiple plans from 2016 to 2022.
It’s rumoured the new Skyline could share its platform with the Nissan Ariya crossover, which is built in the same factory.
