9,258 new cars hit Finnish roads in May, a 19.9% year-on-year improvement leading to a year-to-date volume up 4.9% to 37,156. Toyota (+13.3%) can’t quite catch up with the market growth but continues to dominate the brands ranking head and shoulders with 18.4% share. The next three manufacturers all easily beat the market: Volkswagen is up 43.2% to 11.3% share, Skoda gains 64.6% to 11.3% share also and Volvo surges 68.4% to 9.2% of the market. In contrast Kia (-24%) suffers at #5. Tesla (+4736.4%!) is by far the  best performer in the Top 10 with Opel (+99.4%) and Audi (+63.3%) also very solid.

Over in the models lane, the Toyota Corolla (-6.3%) reclaims the top spot with 6.1% share, and is followed this month by the Tesla Model Y (+4330%) giving up its traditionally backloaded quarters. The Model Y is also #2 year-to-date vs. #13 over the Full Year 2022. The Skoda Enyaq (+171.9%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+94.2%) also post fantastic scores, with the Enyaq managing its first podium finish in Finland. The Toyota Yaris (-5.7%) is in difficulty and rounds out the Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 outrace the market, with the BMW i4 (+336.2%) and Audi Q4 (+334.9%) the most impressive followed by the VW ID.4 (+108.5%), Volvo XC40 (+94.5%) and XC60 (+37.4%).
